There are huge benefits to climbing – teaching children responsibility and safety, overcoming fear and the self-achievement and personal satisfaction attained by climbing to the top of our walls.

The school climbing sessions are designed to be motivating and fun, but also educational.

How do the bookings work?

Creation regularly tailors training packages for schools for entire terms. These packages include a complete syllabus that regular students can work through. It shows them all the basics required to start climbing, the safety issues involved, and then works through a carefully crafted programme to help the group work together as a team and reach their goals.

We can offer complete courses based upon our Youth Academy Programme, or GCSE climbing syllabuses for AQA, EDEXCEL or OCR. We also offer one-off sessions for climbing, abseiling, caving, and End of Term Rewards!

We come from a SEN school. Is climbing suitable? 

We provide regular sessions for several organisations and schools with special needs or behavioural difficulties. If you are unsure give us a call on 0121 449 8000 to speak with our reception team.

How do the sessions run? 

Our instructors work on a maximum ratio of 1:6, though bespoke ratio numbers can be arranged if necessary. The group will not only climb the roped routes, but enjoy bouldering on our low level walls with safety mats. We can also take groups into our indoor caving system if requested.

Students are split up in to set groups, and remain in those groups throughout the course. Instructors use our internal evaluation sheets to monitor each student’s performance, focusing each week on their weaker areas to help them meet the exam board’s standards.

To fulfil the requirements of the GCSE syllabus you will need to commit to a minimum of six 90 minute sessions. More sessions may be required on top of this dependant on the students’ abilities. As a rule though, six sessions should help students achieve at least a Level 3 or more (assessment grading is the same across all exams boards).
