Lead climbing is one of the biggest and most rewarding steps in a climber’s progression — but it can also feel intimidating at first. Our Lead Climbing Course is designed to give you the skills, confidence, and knowledge needed to make that transition safely and confidently.

Working closely with one of our CWDI experienced instructors, you’ll learn the techniques and safety systems essential for modern indoor lead climbing, all in a supportive and controlled environment.

What You’ll Learn

Throughout the course, your instructor will guide you through:

• Safe lead belaying techniques
• Rope management and clipping skills
• Avoiding common mistakes such as:
  • Back clipping
  • Z clipping
    Correct lead climbing practices
• Falling safely and confidently
• Equipment advice and recommendations
• Communication and safety checks

Sessions are tailored to your current ability and experience level, allowing you to progress at a comfortable pace while building real confidence on the wall.

Important Pre-Requisites

To join this course you must:

• Be aged 14 or over
• Be competent at top rope belaying
• Climb comfortably at grade 6a or above

Due to the nature of the course, a minimum of two participants is required for sessions to run.
