Academy Climbing Scheme

Our Academy Climbing Scheme has been specially designed for young climbers aged 7–17 who want to develop the skills, confidence, and knowledge needed to become safe and independent climbers.

Whether your child is completely new to climbing or already has some experience, our structured pathway provides the perfect environment to learn, progress, and grow. The programme is divided into 5 progressive levels, each carefully designed to build upon previous skills and introduce more advanced techniques as confidence increases.

Everyone begins at Beginner Climber, although experienced climbers can take an assessment to fast-track through levels where appropriate.

This isn’t about racing to the finish — it’s about building strong skills, confidence, and experience week by week. Every session introduces new challenges, techniques, and climbing opportunities, helping each climber steadily expand both their ability and their climbing logbook.

As climbers progress through the scheme, we encourage them to visit the centre outside of instructed sessions too. This helps reinforce learning and marks the beginning of their journey towards becoming truly independent climbers.

• Beginner Climber
• Intermediate Climber
• Technical Skills
• Virtual Lead Climber
• Lead Climber

At the end of each level, climbers will complete an assessment to ensure they are ready to safely progress to the next stage.

As the levels advance, climbers will learn increasingly technical aspects of the sport, including:

• Knot tying
• Belaying with various devices
• Bottom rope climbing
• Lead climbing
• Abseiling
• Movement and climbing technique

Session Times

Our Academy sessions run every:

Saturday & Sunday

• 10:15am – 11:45am
• 12:00pm – 1:30pm

Our highest-level sessions also run on selected weekday evenings.

To maximise progression and coaching quality, all Academy groups are organised by ability level and limited to just 6 climbers per group.
