FULL TIME INSTRUCTOR/ROUTESETTER POSITION

A vacancy has become available for a full time Centre Assistant/Routesetter. Primarily teaching our customers the art of climbing, how to belay, and advanced techniques. Lessons may be one to one, group, school, or scout groups. Aside from this, duties include assisting in the other areas of the centre – reception, the cafe, or general maintenance.

The ideal candidate will have previous route setting experience on roped lines, however training will be provided to the right candidate.

All our staff are required to have a CWA qualification as a minimum, we would prefer candidates to already have this qualification, however as part of our commitment to staff development we have a subsidy programme whereby we help contribute towards the cost of training and assessment.

The role is 40hrs per week (5 days a week), on a rota system which may include day/evening or weekend work. The shift pattern is negotiable,

There’s so much more than instructing

Without a doubt, Instructional session are a core element of the business, but just as important is Routesetting. Without the routes on the walls there would be nothing to climb.

So, under the watchful eye of our Routesetting Manager, a team of dedicated and very talented people work tirelessly each week day to strip, clean and reset the holds on the walls to create exciting new problems for our customers.

As an instructor, you would have the opportunity to train and become part of that setting team

Our reception team work to ensure that customers queries are quickly and efficiently answered, and to book in instructional sessions and provide exceptional front of house service

Our cafe team work 7 days a week offering hot and cold food and snacks. It’s a high pressure envionment, especially on busy weekends and school holidays

And backing all this up is a team of highly skilled individuals heading up the management team. With responsibility for different areas, they ensure the smooth running of the centre.
